Bloom Social Analitics

Case Study by Nukomeet  ·  4/2017

Bloom is a platform for analyzing opinions and influences by unique data visualization on the market. It detects key communities, relationships between communities, networks of influences, consumption or social trends by interest, the impact of structural or cyclical events in a given strategic context, formalized by the leader or the brand.

Project background

Bloom is a French start-up born in 2016 from the meeting between Bruno Breton, specialist in digital, media and marketing (Publicis, Internet Club, Bolloré Média, EPFL Social Media Lab Director) and Alexander Polonsky, researcher in mathematics, neuroscience and bioinformatics (MIT, Stanford University, Institut Pasteur, EPFL).

Our involvement

Nukomeet’s role in the project was to automate semi-manual processes created by Bloom team built as a workflow management tool for the existing processes and to extend it with additional data sources.

For the purpose of the project we have built simple background job/task processing queue for Node.js - blezer.

We have worked to make data acquisition efficient. From iteration to iteration we have cut significantly required time to accomplish various repetitive tasks.

Services we have provided

Technologies

We used Node.js on the backend using ECMAScript 2017 with Async / Await support. Google Cloud Platform and Scaleway Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for data processing. Nukomeet have automated Cloud Servers setup and management using platform's CLI. Data processing and Cloud Servers management is integrated into workflow with dashboard.

Node.js

Node.js

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code server-side. Historically, JavaScript was used primarily for client-side scripting, in which scripts written in JavaScript are embedded in a webpage's HTML and run client-side by a JavaScript engine in the user's web browser.

Cloud

Cloud computing

Google Cloud Platform and Scaleway. Cloud computing is an information technology paradigm that enables ubiquitous access to shared pools of configurable system resources and higher-level services that can be rapidly provisioned with minimal management effort, often over the Internet. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale, similar to a public utility.

Impact

Our mission was to create a multifaced tool to automate and enhance the internal processes. The result enabled Bloom platform's analysts to create and provide Social Media intelligence in desirable timeframe to their clients.
